Alexis Sutton is a young black screenwriter grappling with a bad case of writer's block. She's trying to find inspiration anywhere but her own life, which, in her eyes, is far from the most exciting thing to write about. When her brother Darius returns home from college, he brings with him news that he's engaged to his longtime boyfriend Jodie Fuchs, whom Darius has yet to introduce to the rest of his family. What better way to celebrate than a party? The perfect opportunity for both families to meet, mingle, and enjoy the company of their new soon-to-be familia. But what the Sutton family doesn't know, is that the Fuchs family knows exactly who they are. And this night will prove to be one both families will never forget.
